FAQ
FAQs
- Why should I get a song mastered?
- Stem mastering is a process that lies in between mixing and mastering. Rather than manipulating all the individual tracks in a song, related tracks are grouped together and exported as stems. In a stem master, the mastering engineer will work with about 4-7 stems which might consist of a stem for the drums, bass, leads, fx, vocals, reverb, delay, etc. This process allows for greater flexibility compared to a normal master since certain track groups can be adjusted without affecting the other elements in the song.
- Does my song need to be mixed?
- Mixing is the art of balancing and optimizing the various tracks/channels in a recording so they can combine coherently and enjoyably into a mono, 2-channel, or surround sound mix. The purpose of the mix engineer is to make sure each element of the song has its own space in the mix and is heard the way it was intended to be.
- Should I do a stem master?
- Mastering is the final stage of the production process. A mastering engineer takes a high-level approach and looks at a song and/or project as a whole. This step provides the finishing touches.
